Zagreus have been producing authentic Bulgarian wines since 1998. Grown on some of the country's best soil in the Lower Thracian Valley, known for it's cinnamon-red colour.
Certified as organic, Santimenti 2022 is made from 100% organically farmed Mavrud (a native Bulgarian variety) with fermentation in stainless steel with no additives used. The team at Zagreus let the wine evolve naturally avoiding any manipulation. No fining and filtration are used at any stage of its creation. Before bottling, a maximum of 30 mg/l of sulphites are added. No barrel ageing.
It is full bodied, packing a punch of ripe, juicy flavours like blackcurrant, black cherry, and plum plus a dash of spice. On the palate you find a luxuriously round and smooth texture.
Match with BBQ, grilled or roasted meats like duck, lamb, and steak or robust cheeses like pungent blue, gouda, pecorino, or a sharp cheddar.
