Dornier is a family owned winery situated in the ‘Golden Triangle’ of the famous Upper Blaauwklippen Valley – in the fine company of De Trafford, Waterford and Keermont. The property produces premium quality wines, with minimal intervention in the winery, that are expressive of the terroir.
Dornier have sourced a brilliant old block, planted in 1971, of Tinta Barocca from the Swartland for this wine. The vines are old, dryland farmed and planted in poor soils – all of these factors reduce the yield on the vines, thus boosting the concentration of the fruit. Post fermentation in stainless steel, the wine undergoes Malolactic fermentation and is aged in French oak for 17 months.
Broodingly dark in colour and delectably full bodied. Raspberry, mulberry and aromatic spices jump out of the glass. Fine grained, grippy, tannins are in perfect harmony with the abundance of concentrated fruit.
