Well, I'm thrilled to be showing off these cracking wines at last. I visited them back in January and was blown away by the quality, if you think SA is all about big 'n burly, think again!
2013 Fable Mountain Jackal Bird White
£24.99/Bt or Six Pack Deal £120 (£20/bt)
92/100 The Wine Advocate
The 2013 Jackal Bird is a blend of 41% Chenin Blanc, 18% Grenache Blanc, 17% Chardonnay, 14% Viognier and 10% Roussanne sourced from Swartland, Elgin and Voor-Paadeberg. It spent 12 months on the lees, 70% fermented and matured in 500-litre oak barrels and the rest in concrete eggs. Complex, weighty with a wonderul texture, I adored this from first sip!
2013 Fable Mountain NIght Sky
£28.99/bt or Six Pack Deal £144 (£24/bt)
92/100 The Wine Advocate
The 2012 Night Sky is a blend of 60% Syrah, 25% Grenache and 15% Mourvèdre that matured for 24 months in 500-liter oak barrels, 20% new. This is another beautifully put together blend from Fable. The palate is beautifully balanced, elegant and with real poise - sensational!
2015 Whispering Angel Rose, Provence
I must confess to be very disappointed by the Miraval 2015, so when we tasted the Whispering Angel, my faith was restored in Provence's 2015 Roses...and we have their very impressive Rock Angel, the next one up!
