Wines on Tasting in West Road 23.07.16

23 July 2016

2012 Pinot Noir Pegasus Bay, Waipara New Zealand
£29.99 p/b
£150/ case of 6
£240 per case of 12

If ever I want a Pinot Noir that is going to just hit the spot then Pegasus Bay is certainly a go to wine. The wine is full of earthy, truffley characteristics and shows a complexity that is akin to a top Burgundy. Perfumed, elegant but with a hardcore of cherry fruit and soft tannins all cloaked in some quality oak.

2015 Gavi del Comune di Gavi Stefano Massone Piemonte Italy
£13.99 p/b Loyalty Card
6 £11.89 Loyalty Card
12 £11.19

When it comes to needing a refreshing white to drink in this hot weather then Italian wines tend to hit the spot.  And the best of the bunch is the Gavi made from the Cortese grape.  Zesty, lemony crisp and dry.  Just perfect.
