We're feeling celebratory here in West Road this weekend and so we've decided to get our fizz on!
Prosecco has taken the world by storm in the last few years and it's easy to see why, easy drinking, mixable and a fraction of the price of other sparkling what's not to love! the Valfonda "V" prosecco is made from 100% glera grapes from close to Verona. The bubbles are fine and persistant making it incredibly refreshing, with notes of wild flowers and fresh green apple. Next we have the unctuous 2012 Sottano Seleccion del Enologo. We couldn't resist cracking this open in the shops this weekend so we can not only share it's delciousness, but also show off what a bargain it is in our special case price of £90 for six (only £15 per bottle!). The 2012 Enologo has been aged for 12 months all in new barrels, 70% French Oak with a medium plus toast on them, and 30% American which again has a medium plus toast. The delicious ripe, dark cassis fruit is a joy, complex, polished and very long. The tannins are perfectly ripe and the wine has an impeccable sense of balance.
