Cantine Povero are a traditional winery in Piemonte, located right in the triangle where Roero, Langhe and Monferrato meet. The Povero family farms the land in a very traditional way, with over 150,000 vines spread over 45 hectares of vineyards. Environmentally responsible in the vineyard their traditional methods are supported by eco-friendly technology so that no chemical herbicides and fertilisers are used, all water used is from their own ancient deep well and all their electricity needs are met by their own solar panels.
In 2015, one of the best vintages ever in Piedmont, Alessio wanted to experiment with another blend to go with Cabanè Langhe Rosso (produced by Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, and Nebbiolo). Thinking of a warmer wine than Cabanè, with softer tannins, Alessio decided to replace Cabernet Sauvignon with Syrah, coming up with Sibanè. The rustic Piedmontese origins of Sibané are proudly showcased by Barbera and Nebbiolo, while the more cosmopolitan personality is the result of Syrah. Sibané is a complex, enveloping, and full-bodied wine with high, but well-balanced, alcohol content. The color is an intense ruby red with violet reflections. Spicy and fruity notes stand out, in particular plum, black pepper, and black currant.
