Weingut Johannesof Reinisch is 4th generation family run winery, operating organically in Austria’s Thermenregion. Enjoying 2000 hours of sunshine every year, the winery is located in the country’s sunniest and driest region. The region’s vineyards are aerated by the local breezes from the east, which means any moisture left by rainfall is quickly evaporated rather than lingering on the vines and running the risk of causing fruit rot in the vineyards. Rotgipfler is quite an unusual grape variety. It’s a crossing between Traminer and Roter Veltliner, and is only really found in the Thermenregion.
Reinisch’s Rotgipfler has warming notes of ripe peach, caramelised lemon zest and honeysuckle in full bloom. Aromatic and packed with ripe stone fruit flavours, this wine still retains a racy freshness and steely minerality. The Rotgipfler is a really versatile wine for food pairings, making happy matches with everything from Pad Thai to a creamy fish pie.
