Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne. It was founded in Aÿ in 1584 by Pierre Gosset but didn't start producing sparkling wines until the 18th Century.
Gosset's 2015 Grand Millésime is only the third to be dominated by Pinot Noir, after the 1990 and 2006 vintages. A blend of 59% Pinot Noir and 41% Chardonnay. In 2015 they chose plots where the Pinot Noirs were particularly fresh and fine and the Chardonnays were selected for their lively and aromatic character
The wine has been vinified and aged on lees with malolactic fermentation avoided, as per Gosset’s house style. The 2015 Millesime is wonderfully fresh and expressive revealing pear and peach, which develops into notes of candied orange and marzipan. The finely poised, full-bodied palate remains incredibly light, with every sip revealing notes of damson and Mirabelle plum followed by zesty notes of rhubarb. Sustained by a bold liveliness, the wine finishes satisfyingly with just a hint of salinity.
