The Patina wines – both the Syrah and the Chenin Blanc – are produced at Goldmine Farm, a property that sits on the southwestern slopes of the Kasteelberg between Riebeek-Kasteel and Malmesbury. This part of Swartland is particularly special, and known for producing some of the appellation’s finest grapes.
When the farm was purchased by Boekenhoutskloof in 2014, they came up with the Patina name, which harks back to the area’s gold-prospecting past. ‘Patina’ refers to the polished effect that developed over time on mining pans.
