Weybridge is going Spanish crazy! On tasting this weekend:
2004 Blanc Dels Aspres Emporda Costa Brava
Pale straw colour, with greenish reflections, brilliant and elegant. The first aromatic impression is a note of orange tree flower honey, and a very refreshing feeling. Then after a while, we get evident ripe mango, grated lemon peel and hanging tomato complemented with consistent aromas of brioche, pistachios and baked apple. Once in the mouth, it is fleshy and structured, with good acid base, on which you can taste hints of blood orange, stone peach and biscuit ice cream.
2004 Valpiculata Puertas Novas Crianza
Dark ruby colour, blackberry liqueur aromas. On the palate the wine is silky in texture with ripe tannins and generous finish. The 2004 Puertas Novas spent 12 months in seasoned French oak. Deep crimson-coloured, it has a fragrant nose of cedar, leather, black cherry, and blackberry. This is followed by a medium to full-bodied, full-flavored wine with excellent depth, concentration, and length.
