Two very different wines this week.
First up, a white from Western Australia that pays hommage to the whites of Bordeaux. Sauvignon Blanc blended with a per centage of Semillon just to soften the over enthusiastic Sauvignon. A satisfying mix of gooseberry pizazz and citrus zing.
Temptingly priced at £9.99 p/b and a steal at £7.99 when you buy a mixed 12!
The second offering is from the Cave de Foncalieu based in Carcassonne. This Old Vine Carignan is brimming with red fruit and garrigue aromas. Medium - bodied with a bit of grip on the finish yet fresh and elegant with red and black fruits. The secret is in the concentration from the old gnarly vines.
A touch of class for £10.99 p/b and a very reasonable £8.79 in a mixed 12.
