"Patina comes from a 1.6 hectare parcel planted on schist soils in 1996. Partially fermented on skins, it has good grip, taut acidity and layers of pear, green apple and beeswax. Concrete eggs add some focus to the vanilla oak spice. 2021-25"

Purchased by Boekenhoutskloof in 2014, Patina wines grow come from Goldmine Farm. The Goldmine Property is situated on the Riebeeksrivier Road, between Riebeek-Kasteel and Malmesbury and sits on the southwestern slopes of the Kasteelberg. This pocket of the Swartland undoubtedly produces some of the finest grapes in the appellation. Boekenhoutskloof's experience of Goldmine and its soils results in concentrated, yet finessed, textured and well-structured wines.
The Patina Chenin Blanc grapes are harvested from GOldmine Farm, then one third of those grapes are fermented spontaneously in concrete eggs, one third is whole bunch pressed and then matured in seasoned French barriques and concrete eggs for 12 months and the remaining third is skin fermented and pressed off the skins halfway through fermentation then transferred to concrete our nomblot concrete eggs.
The resulting wine has layered aromas of citrus and stone fruit aromas, and whiffs of angelica, acacia flower and allspice. Light to medium bodied on the palate, with a smooth, fleshy texture and vibrant, integrated acidity.
