Citrus & stone fruits with nuances of melons and herbs. Silky, lively with nice acidity. Dry Estate Riesling. Two Riesling worlds (grapes from limestone & sand- stone) coming together. The Hanewald-Schwerdt estate is located at the end of the Road which is called Pochelstraße. A "Pochel" is a cairn people built when moving stones outside of the vineyards. Because of the fact that around Leistadt no reallocation of land happened these cairns are very typical for their landscape and gave the name to their entry level riesling.
Hanewald-Schwerdt is a partnership between Thomas Hanewald and Stephan Schwerdt who have taken over the running of their family winery. Thomas and Stephan are members of ‘Generation Riesling’ a body made up of the best young winemaking talent in Germany. The entry level wines aim to show off pure varietal character, while the village wines are all hand picked from individual soil types. The single vineyard wines demonstrate the highest levels of quality that each site and variety can produce.
Hanewald-Schwerdt’s wines are created by cousins Thomas Hanewald and Stephan Schwerdt, supported by several family members and an experienced winery team.
This vineyard covers two contrasting locations – one in the mountains north of Bad Dürkheim, with limestone-based soil, and another further south near Deidesheim and Ruppertsberg,......
