Domaine Gayda was built in 1749 as a Staging Post for travellers where horses were refreshed and changed. In 2004, current owners Tim Ford and Anthony Record joined forces with winemaker Vincent Chansault, creating the modern face of wine from the region. In the largest wine region of the world, Domaine Gayda strives to create wine with provenance and a sense of “being” that is a true reflection of the quality and diversity of the Languedoc Roussillon.
The Figure Libre Freestyle Blanc is a blend of 50% Grenache Blanc, 25% Maccabeu, 15% Marsanne, 10% Viognier. The wine is aged in concrete egg tanks, then 228l and 500l barrels on the lees. The cuvees are then blended 1 month in vat prior to bottling. Deep gold colour, very aromatic, with hints of stone fruit and honeysuckle. A rich full bodied wine with real depth, weight and concentration and a hint of oak to add further complexity. A lot of personality. Approachable now but will continue to develop and improve over the next 5 years.
