2021 Pinot Bianco Vorberg

The new vintage needs just a little time in the glass for the aromas to emerge, wonderfully pure and lifted; there are notes of fresh pear, apple and white peach that pick up a note of white flowers. The palate shows a fine weight of fruit, with those orchard fruit notes carried forward, as well as a more lemony accent and even a hint of yellow plum. There is always great tension to Vorberg and it takes no time at all before the minerally, saline nuances come to the fore. As ever there is a round, creamy, leesy touch that adds interest and complements the satiny texture of this ripe, but restrained vintage. The finish is positively mouthwatering – saline to the very last sip. Perhaps 2021 will be one of those vintages that will age for decades – it seems to have everything. Exceptional.
