Established in 1996 on the Öreghegy (Old Hill) of Etyek, the Etyeki Kúria winery is a place that aims to bring together a respect for heritage and a creative, innovative approach.

Having started with just two hectares of vines, the winegrowing area has now expanded to cover 54 hectares across the Etyek and Sopron regions, growing sauvignon Blanc, chardonnay and pinot noir at the first and native kékfrankos grapes at the second. In fact, this was the first winery in the region to plant pinot noir vines in order to produce red wines.

Head winemaker Sándor Mérész joined the team around 10 years ago, and has been shaping the style of the wines produced since then, mixing up local knowledge with international experience and keeping an eye on the latest research. His approach and achievements have led to him being named one of the 50 nominees for the Winemakers’ Winemaker award in Hungary every year since 2013.
