Established in 1776, Boekenhoutskloof sits in the furthest corner of the stunning Franschhoek valley, its name coming from the phrase ‘ravine of the boekenhout’ (boekenhout being an indigenous beech tree).
Current manager Marc Kent bought the farm and homestead in 1993, restoring the estate and establishing a new vineyard planting programme that now produces a range of varieties including viognier, semillon, grenache, syrah, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc.
Kent is consistently committed to a quest for quality in every detail, but remains unafraid of experimentation in the pursuit of perfection. This approach also feeds into the wider area – he has been instrumental in furthering the development of the South African wine industry as a founding board member of the the Franschhoek Wine Valley Tourism Association and former chair of the Vignerons de Franschhoek association.
