Alvaro Palacios

Located in Priorat · Spain

Considered to be part of the top 'new generation’ of Spanish winemakers (alongside such names as Peter Sisseck and Telmo Rodriguez), Alvaro Palacios is a renowned winemaker who has built up a strong reputation since first establishing his own winery in 1989.

Before setting up his own business, Palacios gained experience working for the Château Pétrus winemaker in Bordeaux and helped to set up the Gratallops Project in Priorat, collaborating with other respected winemakers to buy vineyards and share vinification facilities. Eventually it was time for them all to start their own estates, and Palacios chose to stay in the Priorat region, south of Barcelona – a region known for its excellent-quality wines.

Rather than developing a wide range, Palacios's winery focuses on producing just three wines (Finca Dofí, L’Ermita, and Les Terrasses), all of which have won great acclaim among the wine industry.
