Wines on Tasting in Church Street 21.01.17

21 January 2017

Okay, we've been lured by the French this week and have all sorts of classics open for you to try (including some sneaky samples of the epic 2015 Burgundies). However, never fear, Rebecca has managed to sneak in one of her favourite Italian whites to keep non-Francophiles happy!

2011 Chateau Falfas - a fabulous mature Bordeaux that pairs well with pretty much anything you're choosing to serve because of what a complex and impressive red this is. It has dark forest fruits, a little spice and new wood. Sweet attack, juicy, lively mouth feel. Fresh, zingy with good grip and moderate finish. £19.99 or £15.99 in a mixed case

Lugana San Bernadetto  - If you've never had Trebbiano at it's best you've been missing out on one of Italy's great aromatic grapes.  This is a white with a strong personality, with fragrant scents of peach and citrus that are matched on the palate. A full-bodied wine, with a nice length that nevertheless has a refreshing acidity that lifts it and means it is perfect for aperativo hour as well as with food. £14.99 or £11.99 in a mixed case
