Wine on tasting in Weybridge 20.08.16

Whilst we may see a First Drop (or 3) of rain this weekend one of our wine's on offer is like Mother's Milk, always keeping you smiling and gurgling !

First Drop Wines are made in South Australia and are unusual in that the winery owns no vineyards. This allows it to buy the best grapes from the best vineyard sites and experiment with various varieties combining European elegance with their unique Australian style. They recently received plaudits for their range of wines from the Halliday Wine Companion and Jancis Robinson MW's Purple Pages. Don't take our word for it please come in to the shop and taste these beauties.

2014 Mother's Milk Shiraz
Full-bodied and full-blooded. Just when you think it's over the top, savoury tannins and a touch of oak pull back the plush, plummy fruit. 94 points (Halliday Wine Companion 2017)

2014 Mother's Ruin Cabernet Sauvignon
Mid to deep cherry red. So classically Cab on the nose that it makes me smile. Blackcurrant leaf, capsicum but not in the least unripe, just a very specific style of Cabernet Sauvignon. The tannins are very fine and the whole thing is just so wonderfully elegant. Fresh, long and subtle. 16.5 points, Jancis Robinson.

2013 Mere et Fils Chardonnay
Marked savoury aroma, smoky/toasty but rich citrus with just the right amount of struck-match character. The wine making and the fruit are in harmony but the coolerclimate influence is seen in the freshness. Dry, textured finish. 16.5 points, Jancis Robinson
