Wine on tasting in Weybridge 03.02.17
“Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage.” – Jancis Robinson. “Let’s say that it is at least possible that the 2015 vintage in the Côte d’Or will be a very great one. Start saving now.” – Andrew Jefford, Decanter
Early opinions suggest that 2015 Burgundy will be something very special with some critics comparing it to the 2005 vintage that Wine Advocate classed as “extraordinary” for reds… And we have another delicious samples on tasting this weekend!!!!
2015 Domaine Yves Boyer-Martenot Bourgogne Chardonnay £165.00 case of 12
It has been 15 years since Vincent Boyer took thereins from his father and put his stamp on Domaine Yves Boyer-Martenot. His tenacity in the vineyards and dedication to balance and freshness has led to wines of increased terroir clarity and chiseled Meursault typicity. Located in the heart of Meursault, this 4th generation property boasts a lineup of remarkable, high altitude lieu dits and Premier crus that have few equals in the village.
Splendid quality, from well-positioned vines in Meursault and vinified with the same care and technique. Great value. Drink 2017-2019.
2015 Chateau de Chamirey Mercurey Blanc £220.00 case of 12
Château de Chamirey, the leading estate in Mercurey, is owned by the Devillard family. It comprises 37 hectares of vines, much of which is premier cru. The Devillards regularly declassify as much as 30% of the production from premier cru to village wine, a fact that explains the consistently high quality of the wines.
Vinified 40% in 400 litre oak barrels and 60% in stainless steel vats, this has a winning combination of fresh, ripe, honeyed fruit and soft, generous texture. Drink 2017-2019.
....And when they say ''blink and you miss it'', this wine is fine example. Still on tasting for your pleasure....
Domaine Rossignol-TrapetBeaune 1er Cru Les Teurons
A softer, rounder wine, just as concentrated but with less tannin. More precocious but with the depth and balance to age gracefully.
See you over the weekend!
