This is our best selling House Champagne over the past decade. Maison Olivier Pere et Fils, based in Trelou-sur-Marne, previously sold all their grapes to well known Champagne houses, in particular Pol Roger but for the past twenty years have been making their own Champagnes.
This is a wonderful family-run, 11 hectare domaine, created in 1910, and is now run by the fourth generation; brothers Bertrand and Julien Olivier. They believe in producing their own Champagnes which are crisp, fresh and fruity, with complexity and character arising from extended ageing on the lees. Their expertly crafted cuvée ‘Origine’ is a blend of all three main grape varieties (Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay) and has a fine balance of fruit and minerality. A very high-quality Champagne for a remarkably sensible price!
Elegant, light gold colour, on the nose it shows delicate notes of red apple, touches of citrus peel and a light brioche notes. On the palate, this has a lovely persistent mousse, clean, fresh and well-balanced, with plenty of tangy red fruit, juicy apple, and brioche. A lovely generous finish too - the perfect Champagne for aperitif!
