2020 Smith & Co Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

The Smith & Co. Sauvignon Blanc was blended from a selection of blocks in the Awatere and Wairau Valley located in the Marlborough area.

This wine has a lovely lemon straw colour, lifted aromas of lime white flowers and a lovely lifted sweet herb element. The palate has a medley of nectarine, gooseberry and currant leaf flavours finishing with a lovely line of refreshing limey acidity.

2023 Matawhero Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, Gisborne, New Zealand

Kirsten and Richard bought the Matawhero winery from it’s founder and pioneer winemaker Denis Irwin in 2008. The Estate produces 3 levels of wine: The Single Vineyard range – a selection of the very best vineyard sites in Gisborne from three distinct sub regions; Riverpoint, Hexton Hills and Patutahi. The wines are fruit-driven and approachable and they display the palate weight and texture that Gisbourne is renowned for. The Church House collection – unique parcels of wine showcasing alternative varieties that are grown in the region. The Irwin – in an exceptional vintage, where superior ripeness is achieved, a hand crafted, barrel fermented Gisborne Chardonnay is released. This flagship Chardonnay is a tribute to the late Bill Irwin and his son Denis, the founders of Matawhero Wines.

The Matawhero Sauvignon Blanc is tropical and zesty with notes of melon, passionfruit and citrus. This lovely Sauvignon finishes with a richness and fullness seen only in good Sauvignon Blanc.
