The wine is made from a blend of Grenache and Syrah from the Vaucluse area of the southern Rhone. Juicy sweet black cherries with spice and a hint of clean fresh liquorice.
The grapes for this wine come from winemaker Mark's favourite vineyard on the coast of the Ionian Sea in Puglia. Aromas of ripe, red fruit, especially raspberries and a spicy, smoky edge from the oak ageing. On the palate it is youthful and full-bodied, with a great balance between ripe, rounded fruit characters including blackberry and blueberry, sweet, toasty oak and ripe, full tannins.
Grown on a vareity of soil types - gravels which provide tropical flavours, clay loams produce citrus notes, and deep silty soils lift the aromatic quality. Fermented in stainless steel tanks to retain the natural fruit characters.
