Veronique and Philippe Grenier inherited a mere half a hectare of vines in 1992 and put them to work. Now organically certified, they mainly produce St Joseph and Vins de Pays. Les 7 Lieux is 100% Syrah drawn from vines around Chavanay up to 50 years old, harvested by hand. Once fermented, maturation takes place in 600-litre demi-muids. Medium bodied, with plenty of concentration but no heaviness, fine and grippy tannins frame lavender and violet notes, fresh raspberry and spices. Pair with the finer cuts of lamb or beef, or rich noodle soups like tonkatsu ramen.
