This 2020 vintage is a stunning, mature, rich and complex Nuits-Saint-Georges from one of our favourite producers - Bertrand Ambroise. Bertrand took over the vineyard from his father-in-law in 1987, and is now run by his son and daughter. They have been working on developing the winery`s organic philosophy and were certified by Ecocert in 2013. They remove many of the leaves around the bunches of the grapes to produce riper tannin and has de-stemmed the Pinot Noir since 2002 which, along with 28 day maceration, helps produce balanced wines of classic Burgundian character with structure and poise.
A classic Nuits Saint Georges, with dark, complex, broodingly serious dark & red fruit with with lusty rich aromas, evolved spice and dry earthy notes leading onto a medium-bodied, polished and structured finish.
A glorious wine for drinking now but will keep a further 5 years.
Domaine Bertrand Ambroise is one of our favourite estates in the Cotes-de-Nuits. Nowadays mostly run by Bertrand's son Francois, it's one of the few domaines in the Cotes de Nuits to make splendid white as well as red wines. For the reds, Bertrand continues to believe in low yields,......
