Brookdale Estate's winemaker Kiara Scott initially worked as assistant winemaker to renowned winemaker Duncan Savage where they brought to fruition the maiden vintage of the Brookdale Chenin Blanc 2017. This wine established Brookdale’s reputation as a producer of elegant wines with distinct character. Kiara was then appointed sole winemaker at Brookdale Estate in 2019 at the age of only 26, officially the youngest head female winemaker in South Africa.
The Mason Road Chenin Blanc is pure and crystalline, an ethereal expression of Chenin Blanc. Lashings of ripe stone fruit, yellow plum and pear, complemented by a saline minerality and vibrant acidity on the impressively persistent finish.
When proprietor Tim Rudd acquired the Brookdale Estate in the Paarl winelands, he had a clear vision in mind: to transform what was an underused and overgrown property into a world-class country estate where he and his family could forge fresh paths and try new ideas.
