The Coquard family has been established on the slopes of the village of Pommiers for four generations in the Southern hills of Beaujolais, on Lyon's doorstep.. Now in the hands of Olivier Coquard who in 1998, after a BTS in Viticulture and Oenology in Beaune and an experience in South Africa, settled back on of the family farm.
Pommiers is situated on two distinct hills. On their slopes facing the rising sun, the soils are clay-limestone, producing the fresh and fruity wines characteristic of Beaujolais Nouveau. In contrast, around the village, basaltic sands of volcanic origin give the wines an intense bouquet of ripe red fruit and a good tannic structure. Olivier cultivates 10 hectares of vines in the Beaujolais appellation, planted with Gamay (6 hectares) and Chardonnay (4 hectares). They implement the Organic Farming Charter of environmentally friendly production methods.
