Domaine Saumaize-Michelin is a fine family estate in the village of Vergisson, at the higher, northern end of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation where the wines are fresher, more aromatic and have greater vitality. They also produce a wonderful range of wines from the neighbouring appellations of Mâcon-Vergisson and Saint Véran together with a crisp, mineral Viré-Clessé from further north.
The 2024 Pouilly-Fuissé Pentacrine is a stunning example of the precision and depth this limestone-rich terroir can deliver. Named after the fossilized star-shaped sea creatures found in the vineyard’s ancient soils, Pentacrine is all about elegance and mineral drive. A must-buy for White Burgundy lovers.
This fresh, elegant wine comes from a number of parcels in the village of Vergisson at the northern, higher end of the appellation. Crisp and aromatic with vivid fruit and excellent vitality. Fermented and aged for 12 months in both 228 litre and 450 litre oak barrels to give a hint of spice and vanilla to the wine.
