We’ve been following these guys for the last decade or so. Hailing from the southern Rhone appellations of Lirac & Chateauneuf-du-Pape, they work 85 hectares organically and are moving into biodynamics under the auspices of winemaker Pascal Lafond. From the straight Cotes-du-Rhone to their sumptuous white Lirac and their rich, warm Chateauneuf-du-Pape they are really easy wines to love. As well as showing the same silky, plush fruit across the board, they genuinely strive to keep their costs down: this vineyard has always felt like a labour of love as well as a commercial producer.

A blend of many Rhone grape varieties: Grenache 60%, Cinsault 10%, Syrah 5 %, Carignan 5% and Clairette, Picpoul, Bourboulenc, Mourvedre. The grapes are all destemmed, then maceration takes place for 24 or 48 hours, in order to obtain a more intense colour and more aromas. The next steps are pressing and low temperature fermentation for 8 to 10 days.

The colour is a deep, vivid pink from the wine spending time macerating on the skins. The dominant aromas are complex, red and white fruits mixing with floral tinges. On the palate these fruity aromas tend to turn mellower, with touches of spice. An excellent rose designed for food, from Mediterranean seafood dishes, to BBQ food through to Asian and Oriental dishes.
