This Stony Brook Camissa takes its name from the old Khoisan word for 'the place of sweet waters'. This is a wine that is only produced every few years and its blend changes each time. The 2020 vintage is made up of only Franschhoek-grown fruit; 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Cabernet Franc and 28% Petit Verdot - all matured in 30% new French oak barriques for 25 months.
On the nose there are classic, inviting Bordeaux aromas of blackberry and cassis, with hints of red pepper and spice. Some complexity on the palate, which subtly showcases the effortless balance between acidity and ripe tannins.
A finely structured wine that will develop further complexity with time.
