“So floral and perfumed with purple fruit, mushrooms and stems. Full, rich and round, but with a line of tannins and bright acidity running through the center-palate. Superb finish. 60-year-old vines. Give this three or four years of bottle age.”

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Viña Cobos, a winery founded by Paul Hobbs in 1988. This proved to be a milestone in contemporary viticulture for Argentina, defying quality and setting a new benchmark, placing Malbec and Argentina together with the greatest world-class producers.

The Marchiori Estate in Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo is comprised of clay-loam and sandy-loam soils that vines of over 80 year old can penetrate deeply. This vineyard was the source of the inaugural vintage release of Cobos Malbec 1999. This wine was aged for 18 months in a combination of new and second use French oak barrels before being bottled in November 2019, unfined and unfiltered.
