“Purple fruit with black licorice, white pepper and cloves. Full-bodied with layers of chewy and polished tannins and a great finish. Sage undertones to the minerals. Chalky and structured. Great finish. Needs three or four years of bottle age. Give it time to soften.”
98 points - James Suckling

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Viña Cobos, a winery founded by Paul Hobbs in 1988. This proved to be a milestone in contemporary viticulture for Argentina, defying quality and setting a new benchmark, placing Malbec and Argentina together with the greatest world-class producers.

The 2019 harvest in Argentina is recognised an exceptional vintage across the board, with winemakers and critics calling it the best vintage of the decade.

One of the distinctive features of this vineyard, located in the Los Árboles district of Valle de Uco, are the native forests of Chañar trees, preserved in a nature reserve for the indigenous species of flora and fauna in the region. This Estate is characterized by poor, yet free-draining, stony and alluvial soils. Combined with the favourable climatic conditions of the 2018 vintage, makes this an extraordinary wine indeed. Aged for 18 months in a combination of new and second use French oak barrels, bottled unfined and unfiltered.
