A minute parcel from this decorated vineyard, where vines face south just before the hill bends around to Pernand-Vergelesses in the north. It’s often claimed to be Jean-Jacques’s best Savigny-Les-Beaune Premier Cru. eJan-Jacques Girard’s careful craft yields a poised Pinot Noir matured fifteen months in oak, a portion new, which shapes its fine frame.
Tasting note: A nose of blackberry and black cherry with underlying black pepper spice. Rich, robust and powerful, yet balanced by great vibrancy and lift with pure, forward fruit and soft, rounded tannins that wrap around a core of further bramble fruit and added toasted oak spice.
Food match: Pheasant or Wood pigeon or a classic beef bourguignon.
