Château Duhart Milon is a Pauillac estate owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild that produces on average 28,000 cases of wine per year. A blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon and 37% Merlot. Customers looking to maximize value should be checking out Duhart Milon, as this may be the single smartest purchase in this great and historic vintage. Since few consumers other than billionaires can afford wines such as Lafite Rothschild, to take a look at Duhart Milon, which sells for less than Lafite's second wine. The Rothschilds have invested heavily in resurrecting this property and the 2009 appears to be the finest Duhart I have ever tasted.

The wine chais are located in Pauillac town and the property has a similar climate to that enjoyed by the Médoc with the Gironde estuary and the Bay of Biscay combining to act as a climate regulator and the coastal pine forests sheltering the vines from the westerly and north-westerly winds.  Made with Cabernet Sauvignon 65%, Merlot 30% and Cabernet Franc 5%. Vinification includes oak ageing, up to 40% new oak.  Chateau Duhart-Milon is B Corp Certified. They’re part of a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact.

Tasting note: Deep, dark ruby-red. Aromas are quite restrained showing delicate hints of cassis charcoal, pencil shavings & cedar developing into ripe liquorice. The palate has plentiful grip, but is not astringent. Fresh acidity lifts the flavours, but makes the tannins a little angular. The fruit on the palate is much like that on the nose, but again is quite closed, thought the flavours last well.

Wine Press: James Suckling 91-94/100 "Intense aromas of currant and blackberry, with hints of toasted oak and flowers. Full-bodied, with thick and powerful tannins that are polished and racy. A persistent young wine."
