Donovan Rall has been making waves with the wines he produces at Vuurberg – both among the UK press and the owners of some of the Cape’s top restaurants, which are keen to feature his intriguing creations on their wine lists.
All this attention has come about despite the fact that Vuurberg (which translates as ‘fire mountain’) is a tiny garage-style winery that produces only very small quantities of two varieties – one white and one red. Rall, who worked alongside Miles Mossop and Eben Sadie before joining Sebastiaan Klaassen’s winery, crafts delicate and elegant wines from this winery between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.
