Mabis

Located in Veneto · Italy

Mabis is run by the Biscardo family, whose ancestor Terenzio Biscardo founded one of the first ‘Veronese’ winemaking companies back in the 19th century. Before turning their attentions to wine, the family had been well known in the Verona area for running a very successful textile business.

Since its beginnings, the company has been handed down through the generations – it is currently managed by Maurizio and Martino Biscardo, along with Martino’s daughter Maddalena. Their aim is to maintain the heritage of the family’s passion for wine, and to treat every harvest and vintage as a fresh challenge deserving their utmost attention.

Sheltered by the hills of northern Verona and with a climate tempered by nearby Lake Garda, this is an ideal area for growing vines – particularly traditional varieties such as  Amarone della Valpolicella. International success first came in the 1930s, and in the 1960s the company was one of the first to send wines to the New World and participate in the Vinitaly wine fair. Since then, standards have been carefully maintained, with the heritage shining through in wines of international reputation.
