Winemaker Arrigo Bidoli is the latest member of the Bidoli family to manage the Fornas winery, working alongside his sister Margherita, who oversees sales and exports. Their winery is based in the Friuli region in northern Italy, in a contemporary building that mixes modern lines and features retained from the buildings that stood here before.
Grapes are grown in the vineyards that straddle the Tagliamento river in this lovely valley. These conditions – with fertile soil and influence from the Adriatic Sea – are perfect for growing the pinot grigio grapes that the family is so well known for. Alongside these they also create top-quality chardonnays and sauvignon blancs, with reds from the merlot and cabernet sauvignon stable.
