Domaine Pellé has officially been in existence since the 1950s, although the Pellé family had been producing wine for many years before that, starting out by selling barrels of wine to local brasseries in the early years of the 20th century.

Current manager Paul-Henry Pellé is the fourth generation to run the family estate, dedicating himself to maintaining the excellent reputation of the business. There are some large footsteps to follow in – Paul-Henry’s grandfather was a key figure in the establishment of the Morogues appellation, working hard to gain protected status for this unique terroir based on kimmeridgian limestone.

These days, the estate stretches out to 40 hectares of vines, in and around the village of Morogues. When Paul-Henry took over in 2007, he started the conversion to organic growing methods, building on the ‘natural’ approach that had been in place previously (although full certification is not yet in place).

The vineyards are planted with pinot noir and sauvignon blanc grapes, which gain an extra touch of minerality from these limestone soils. Unusually for this area, grapes are hand-harvested, so the vineyard team can keep a close eye on quality.
