Domaine Bott-Geyl by White

Located in Alsace · France

Since 1993, Domaine Bott-Geyl has been under the management of Jean-Christophe Bott, the latest heir to a long family tradition dating back to 1795 when his ancestor Jean-Martin Geyl first tended his vines and made his wine here.

Today, the estate covers 15 hectares of vines including 6 Grands Crus and 4 Lieux-dits. 80 ‘parcels’ of land are spread over seven communes, around the region known as the ‘Pearls of Vignoble’.

The growing process was converted to be organic in 2000, and then later became biodynamic in 2002. The expressed aim here is to bring out the natural unique qualities of each of the estate’s terroirs, concentrating on low yields and conducting the vinification process in a minimal-intervention way.

Bott’s approach draws on both modern techniques and viticulture practices of the past, also utilising his experience from time spent at wine producers in France, Germany and the New World. In this way he hopes to pay tribute to the legacy of his predecessors from the Bott and Geyl families alike.
