The majority of the vines growing at Château Grange Cochard’s 9.5-hectare estate are over 40 years old, although some have been in place for more than a century. These venerable vines produce low yields of small high-quality grapes packed with flavour and attractive tannins.
This family-run estate in the Morgon appellation has a keen focus on the environment, gaining organic certification for its vine growing area from 2023 and using indigenous yeasts for a spontaneous fermentation process. This eco-friendly approach goes hand in hand with the reintroduction of traditional techniques drawn from the heritage of the area, blending them with more modern processes that reduce the stresses placed on the vines.
The finished wines are crafted by hand, to create authentic wines that are true expressions of the Morgon terroir. Only grapes grown on the vineyard – of the gamay noir variety – are used to produce Château Grange Cochard’s wines.
