The sun is out and we are opening everything! Well nearly, we'll have the best of the ROSE and delicious white and red, perfect for the weekend BBQ.
Do you Whisper or do you Rock?! Two wonderfully delicious Provencal rosés that are amongst the most prestigious in the region.
2015 Rock Angel Rose Chateau d'Esclans
This is a serious wine in it’s own right and similar to good white Burgundy in complexity and style. It is crisp and refreshing with extra depth of character and very impressive length. Alongside the summer fruits and mineral acidity there is a wonderful smokiness, notes of toasted almonds and a mouthwatering creaminess. This is glorious now but will age gracefully over the next few years. Again the big bottles are very impressive.
Chateau d’Esclans is owned by Sacha Lichine, former proprietor of the Margaux classed growth, Château Prieuré Lichine. Since purchasing the estate in 2006 he has transformed it into a world class brand, consistently making refined, elegant, and completely delicious rosés. The 2015 Rock Angel has reached new heights, 2014 was Jancis Robinson's top premium Rosé. “At a recent tasting in London during which nearly 40 of the world’s best Rosés were pitted against each other on a blind tasting table … Chateau d’Esclans ’14 Rock Angel was easily the finest and most alluring … [and] proved to me that Rosé can be a seriously fine wine. 18/20″ Jancis Robinson

2014 PAZO BARRANTES ALBARIÑO, RÍAS BAIXAS, SPAIN
We've raved in the past about the greatness of the wines of Marques De Murrieta and this delicious, fresh Albarino comes from their Galician winery. This is a perfect summer wine to accompany seafood with its delicate floral touches, notes of pear and apple. On the palate this has a delightful clean crisp style but posses a sense of mineral depth and white peach stone. Clean, cool, elegant and silky, this is a very good example of Albarino! £19.99/btl

2014 First Drop Shiraz Mother’s Milk
Not a sledgehammer style, this Barossa Shiraz is made for drinking! Soft, slurpy and textured it is balanced with good acidity, which refreshes the palate and makes you go back for a second / third glass. It is matured for 15 months in old French oak hogsheads sur lie to allow the fruit to fully express itself. Great BBQ wine!
