2015 Blanco Rioja Luis Canas

I simply adore this Rioja. Made from a blend of Viura and Malvasia coming from 50yo vines, this is fermented in new oak, of which 75% is French and 25% is US, then aged for 4 months. This gives the wine a rich, lucious hit of oak, that merges beautifully with the deep ripe fruit. It's a blinking wonder how it's this price, so snap it up!
2013 Rioja Crianza, Luis Canas

Described as THE BENCHMARK Crianza Rioja, I have always enjoyed Luis Canas's slightly more elegant style. Made from a blend of 95% Tempranillon and 5% Garnacha, this deliciously polished wine is a joy.
2008 Reserva Seleccion de la Familia, Luis Canas

One of their flagship wines, the 2008 is simply sublime right now. Made fom a blend of Tempranillo and other varieties (including an expreimental parcel of Cabernet Sauvignon!), this is pretty serious with delicious mature notes of leather and spice integrating with complex dark fruit. Silky, long and elegant, enjoy with some slow cooked lamb neck fillet.
