This weekend we'll be showing a couple of wines from the second instalment of our mature Spanish parcel.
2004 Blanc dels Aspres Criança
Vinyes del Aspres are one of the best producers in Empordà - as you will know if you tried their S'Alou red a couple of weeks ago. From the very north-eastern corner of Spain, right on the French border, this is entirely made from Garnacha Blanca - in limited quantities. This is a rare opportunity to try an old school, fully mature, oak-aged, food-orientated Spanish classic.
2004 Puertas Novas Vendimia Seleccionada
This is a Tempranillo from the Toro region of north-western Spain near Valladollid. The grapes come from 40-100 year old vines that, because of the extremes of temperature in the area, really have to work hard and are consequently very low-yielding. Fermented in concrete and aged in oak the wine is boldly expressive of the region and the grape variety. Again, wines of this maturity are seldom seen.
Both £14.99 per bottle - but mix and match any of the wines in this batch
£75 for 6 = £12.50 per bottle
£120 for 12 = £10 p/b
