Wines on Tasting in Church Street 04.11.16

04 November 2016

As you can see we're getting rather excited here in Church Street. No, it's not because we've eaten too many Halloween sweets, but because November is going to be all about promoting South African wines!

We'll be offering 20% off all South African wines under £50 except the sparklers, no minimum purchase! To get everyone in the mood we'll be cracking open one of our favourite Saffer reds.

Holden Manz Visionaire, usually £15.99 per bottle, now only £12.39
Holden Manz give the classic Bordeaux blend a twist by adding a touch of shiraz to add a nice spicy kick to the finish of the wine. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc join the Shiraz to create a complex blend that is medium to full-bodied, juicy with a firm, ripe tannin structure backed by well-balanced acidity. Mid palate is full of dark fruit with a long and lingering finish and aromas of plums and chocolate followed by elegant raspberry and redcurrant.

The key to the success of this opulent blend are the old vines and low yields which give excellent complexity and concentration. A great introduction to what South African wines do so well.

Much as we adore the Cape wines we couldn't quite give up our love for Spain yet, and whilst our Rioja promotion has finished, this doesn't mean we can't branch out into other Spanish regions and show off what they do too. So onwards to our white...

Luzada Albarino £12.99 or £10.39 as part of a mixed case.
A lovely fresh white made from 100 percent Albariño grapes with hints of peach, white flowers and citrus on the nose and a balance of creaminess and juiciness on the palate. Lively acidity and minerality freshens the mouth with every sip, making it a great accompaniment to lighter-styled dishes or the perfect aperatif to get the party started.

Not content with that? Well fear not, thanks to the Coravin system we also have classic wines available to taste. First up the Chante Cigale Chateauneuf-du-pape Blanc, followed by the 2010 Camigliano Brunello di Montalcino.

Pop down over the weekend to sample all the delicious wines and catch some South African enthusiasm!
