This weekend in Church Street more delicious New Zealand Pinot Noir and an opportunity to try a classic a few months on.
2014 The Cloud Factory Pinot Noir, Marlborough, New Zealand
£12.99 per bottle
six for £66.25 (£11.04 per bottle)
A new and exciting Pinot Noir from New Zealand. Pretty, poised and textural the grapes hail from the Blind River valley in the south east of the Marlborough region and benefit from being close to the sea so giving a "breezy finesse over the classic cranberry and redcurrant aromas giving a wine with enough texture and bite to be foodie but with enough generosity of fruit to be a delicious glass on its own. A lick of oak in the wine making lends a little soothing creaminess to the whole."
The 2014 vintage was featured in "The Wine Merchant Top 100" in 2016 and also was awarded a Bronze Medal at the 2016 International Wine Challenge.
2015 Poully Fumé, Jonathan Didier Pabiot, Loire Valley, France
£22.99 per bottle
£115 for 6 (£19.17pb)
This 100% Sauvignon from one of the Loire's rising stars, is a star in its own right. Jonathan Didier Pabiot converted to organic production early on in his career . This isn't necessarily the easiest thing to do in the Loire, given the climatic conditions, but the results speak for themselves. Refreshing and crisp with great minerality and lovely depth of flavour - this is a great food wine. We also have his special cuvée Prédilection - well-worth adding adding to your order!
