Founded in Ay in 1584 Champagne Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne. The Grande Réserve is the true signature of the House. Its style rests on Pinot Noir from Ay which gives the structure to the wine. Malolactic fermentation has been avoided to preserve the freshness and the elegance of the fruit and a long ageing in cellars will bring roundness and complexity. Dosage is kept low as in the style of the house (8 g/l).
The Gosset Extra Brut Champagne is open and expressive. It shows fresh flavours of apricot and white peach on the nose with hawthorn undertones. On the palate the citrus notes come through with precision and are balanced by the richness of the fruit flavours.
The oldest wine house in the Champagne area, Champagne Gosset can trace its roots back to 1584, when Pierre Gosset, lord of Aÿ, first established a wineseller here. Since then, the story has unfolded over 16 generations, all of whom have had a part to play in the development......
An absolutely stunning champagne, which became an instant favourite. Have had other Gossets before, and although all lovely, this one tops them. "A true dry".
While dinner party guests arrived we enjoyed a couple of bottles of Gosset Extra Brut. It was perfect. The ‘fizz’ was definitely an ice breaker, and there was chatter and laughter from the get go, which continued into the dining room.
