2024 Felicette Grenache Noir

The wines of Terres Fidèles are designed to express the spirit of this extraordinary place – old-vine Grenache, Carignan, Malbec, Cinsault, Viognier and more.

All are authentically crafted, small-batch wines of the wilds. As Fergal Tynan MW, founder, explains: “Over the last two decades, we’ve been creating wines in the wilds of south-western France – embarking on adventures; exploring, discovering and rediscovering remarkable places and vineyard sites. From the foothills and valleys beneath the iconic Pyrenees, out through the gorges to the coastal areas of the Mediterranean, we’ve journeyed with our friends – exceptional growers who excel at their craft and have an inherent respect for the land that they and theirs are a part of. It is these people and places that inspire our winemaking.” 

Viticulture: The vineyard is planted on the plains and foothills in the south of France, between the Pyrénées and the Mediterranean Sea. The area benefits from two distinctive climates that allow the production of a large diversity and styles of wines: the Mediterranean climate for ripe and juicy wines and the Atlantic climate for more structured and mineral wines. 20 year old vines grow on clay - limestone soils. The Félicette range of small batch wines is core to our mission to deliver stellar Grenache from the region.

Winemaking: The grapes are harvested, destemmed and then either hot macerated to extract colour a beautiful dark red colour, and some are cold fermented to get the best possible varietal fruit extraction. The fermentation is then conducted at controlled temperature with gentle pumping overs to extract only the better tannins. The different pressings are then blended in December and aged in stainless steel tank to preserve fruit and round tannins. No oak treatment whatsoever. Just clean star bright fruit.

Tasting Note: A soft and juicy Grenache, showing a light extraction yet retaining a deep, inky black hue. The wine reflects the warmth of the southern French sun, balanced by the breezy freshness of the Mediterranean. Aromatically, it spans the full spectrum of black fruits—rich with blackberry, black cherry, and a hint of plum.
