The Dengler-Seyler estate in the Southern Pfalz is owned by Eva and Matthias Seyler who
make wine with enthusiasm, passion and dedication. Both are both wine experts as wine is deeply rooted in their family and vineyards. For over 200 years, across four generations, the winery has been family-owned and both manage the winery together, working with and in harmony with nature.
Matthias Seyler had a background in business, but the girl next door he married happened to have a wine estate, so he retrained and now they run it together.
Maikammer is one of the principal wine-growing villages in the Southern Pfalz, with a history of viticulture dating back to Roman times. A wide variety of soils allow many different varietals to be grown successfully, and there is minimal intervention in the cellar to allow the terroirs to shine through. There is talk of well-deserved promotion to the prestigious VDP. The estate is now officially certified organic and has greatly reduced its use of sulphur as a result.
Tasting Note: An elegant creamy wine with well-defined melony fruit, clean and clear stony mineral flavours, and a fresh finish.
Food match: Asparagus, fish, white meat and chanterelles.
