Robert Oatley Helmsman Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot is a blend of primarily Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and a small portion of other varieties, sourced from the Central Ranges (Cowra, Mudgee and Orange) in New South Wales.
It presents juicy red and dark fruits on the nose — think raspberry, plum and redcurrant — sometimes with a hint of blackcurrant, subtle spice or cedar undertones. On the palate it is medium-bodied with soft, rounded tannins, moderate acidity and a smooth finish, offering flavours of berry, plum and a gentle earthy or savoury note.
It is easy-drinking and versatile. This wine works well with grilled lamb or beef, roast pork, barbecued meats, tomato-based pasta dishes or mature cheeses.
